Author: It’s no secret that thousands of people can’t find a job. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the long-term unemployment rate (people unemployed 27 weeks or more) is 4.4%. This is almost twice as much as the previous record of 2.6% that was logged in 1983 and half the current national unemployment rate of 9.6%. The bureau estimates that 1 person out of every 25 have been out of work for 6 months or more.
